A Study in Form and Fire
Originating from the Puisaye region of France, this 19th-century stoneware bottle was shaped for storing wine, oil, or spirits within the home. Its full, rounded body narrows into a long neck, creating a silhouette that feels both grounded and quietly architectural.
Horizontal throwing lines remain visible across the surface beneath an expressive glaze of ash grey, muted cream, ochre, and deep brown. The glaze pools and trails unevenly across the form, preserving a record of the clay, flame, and firing process that shaped it.
Substantial yet restrained, the bottle has a sculptural presence that requires very little around it. Place it on a table, open shelving, or simply on its own, where its timeworn surface can be fully appreciated.
